Studio Guidelines
Pre-Booking & Arrival Time
Pre-booking classes is recommended so that we know you’re coming. For security reasons, we lock our studio door 5 minutes past the class start time, so it helps to know that you’re planning to attend. We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled class time, so the Yoga teacher can check you in and you have time to set equipment into place. The Yoga teacher will set up their space as a guide to show you what equipment you will need for that class.
What to Bring
Please bring your own Yoga Mat and some water (especially for Vinyasa or Pilates classes). We provide bolsters, blocks, blankets and straps.
What to wear
Comfortable clothes such as leggings, loose pants or shorts. Singlet or t-shirt that provides ease of movement. Shoes, coats and bags must be removed upon arrival and left in the cloakroom. During colder months or for Yin and Restorative classes we recommend socks and long sleeve tops/layers.
Facilities
We have male and female toilet facilities on the same level as the studio with room for changing. There are no shower facilities in the building. Water and a selection of teas are available.
Experience Required
We have classes suitable for all levels of Yoga ability or experience. If in doubt which class would suit you please enquire with us via email: hello@yogasanctuary.co.nz or phone/text 021 110 3399 .
Parking
Mairangi Bay is a beautiful seaside village with plenty of FREE parking. On busy days in the village parking can be in demand, please allow extra time to park and walk to the studio on these days. Closest parking is on the street in front of the studio and towards the beach on Montrose Terrace. The Auckland Council Carpark behind the studio is also FREE for 180 minutes. Other village parking ranges from 60-240 minutes and all FREE if you obey the council time limits. Other suggested parking is Penzance or Hastings roads that is a 5 minute walk from the studio.
Class etiquette
Yoga Sanctuary class attendees must be a minimum 13 years old (unless attended Yippee Youth Yoga event). Please turn your phone to silent and leave in the cloakroom area. Phones are not welcome into the carpeted studio space. The Yoga studio is a quiet space so please respect this to the benefit of all attendees. Shoes, coats and bags must be removed upon arrival and left in the cloakroom. Please place blankets and props back on the shelf at the end of class.
Please inform the teacher upon arrival if you are new to the studio, or that class type, or if you have an injury or condition that could affect your yoga performance. You are encouraged to move to your ability or energy level on the day. There is an alternative for all moves and you’re welcome to sit out a move that doesn’t feel comfortable for you.
Class Cancellation
Please cancel your booking at least two hours prior to the class start time if you’re unable to attend. Late cancellation, or no-show, class may not be returned.
